Bizarre outfit today. Glittery silver jumpsuit, 1 moonboot, 1 van shoe covered in cats, cream knit jumper, brown chimney -sweep cap and underneath sticking out, vibrant pink hair. I dyed my hair with my mum over the weekend, a sort of last hoorah of colour before i dye it black again for my music video im filming in a few days.
I feel very sea sick as i sit here, in costa. pounding head. I really refuse to be ill though, I absolutely cant be arsed with it. Ive been sat on my arse for nearly 4 months and i have gone mad. But trying to get on with my work is difficult, it’s taken me over an hour to get an invoice together. And im typing to you in my glasses which, jeez, makes a difference! My eyes are going as well, shall we waltz ourselves slowly off the nearest cliff?
I’m recording a podcast episode this week, I’ve figured out how to do it on logic-which is the same software i make my music on. I have all the proper mics and all that so it should sound quite profesh🤓
I’m answering a few questions as well as playing songs i love, so if theres anything you wish to ask please do so and I’ll try to answer.
I know im feeling ill because the sugary aroma of costa and the sickly sweaty cinema popcorn next door usually make my mouth water, now id like a peg for me nose (I’m not pregnant) i am typing to also distract myself. How fragile we are really, sometimes i think about hundreds of years from now, how us humans will operate and what we will be able to obliterate, I wonder if such things as joint pain will even exist by then? and will they look back at us like we look back at the victorians? Odd. I’ll be long dead thank god. I wonder if years & years from now, some art student will be getting stoned with their new dorm mates and say ‘have you ever heard this?’ And play one of my old records..depressing.
I’m quite excited to shoot my new music video, i got quite inspired by this short film i watched on YouTube, I’ll link it. It’s called Possibly in Michigan ⬅️
I covered the theme tune too, naaaaaturally
You know, all jokes aside this song i covered from this obscure film nobody’s ever seen is more interesting that 95% of mainstream music I hear on the radio, at least its brave and not placating the audience, as though we can only deal with the same tired old, worn out fucking format.
I’ve been practising guitar and im getting better slowly, flute too. Instead of moping about that im not playing this festival and that (yet) im just going to carry on doing what i love and making it the best it can be. Theres so much to learn. so so much to learn. I never want to feel like I’ve got it, I like the chase & discovery. It keeps me on my toes.
here’s a harmonica solo I improvised yesterday with Ro on the keys.
So here’s where it gets slightly awkward. (I love awkward)
id like to encourage you to sign up to my 1 pound tier on patreon I’ve just added, and if you do, you’ll get these blog posts a few days a week and join in on my little Renette community, I would appreciate the support if you can. Plus I’ve got a feeling my careers gonna take off this year so you can be there from the beginning like a proper O.G.
➡️ MY PATREON
Theres two other tiers as well that will give you even more goodies!
But the 1 pound tier will give you just the ICONIC blogs, they’ll be fairly regularly covering a wide range of things. So, from here on out, I’m going to put my substack behind the 1 pound paywall, I hope you can understand, im a bit skint.
My endless glove, ren xxxx

When I saw the email arrive in my inbox I thought, bloody hell she's shot off to Spain....... wrong Costa!
Even if the coffee aroma isn't doing it for you, the creative juices are certainly flowing. You are diversifying with the instruments and doing well as far as I can tell, but what do I know, lol.
Good luck with the podcast, sure it'll go well and you'll get some good questions. I just want you to be so famous that my hand written lyrics of Black Wig become worth a fortune, yes I'm totally selfish!
Here's to you and your glove, kindest regards Paul
oh gosh that short film was a journey! Going to look at Patreon now x
